The Landmine Classic is a "don't miss" race. This race features a one-loop course: 7 miles for first time racers, 11 miles for Cat 3, and 25 miles for Cat 2, Cat 1, and Pro. We also offer a marathon option where you do two 25-miles laps.

Almost entirely on singletrack, this race showcases a great deal of what Wompatuck has to offer trail-wise as well as some of the historic features of the park (including bunkers, blasting walls, etc.) from when the park was used as a military compound. Over the 25 miles you will encounter almost every type of trail situation - rocks, roots, berms, pavement (minimal), fast and slow trails, etc. This course takes you through the best of New England mountain biking!

All of the proceeds from the race go right back to the park. Using proceeds from previous years' races, we were able to reclaim South Field, the site of the race, to make the area a more family friendly, open space to enjoy. We also have opened new trails, resurfaced bridges, and completed general park maintenance with proceeds.

Why Pre-Register?

  • It saves you money
Day of registration is an extra $10.  And, as you have come to expect, the Friends of Wompatuck covers the Bikereg.com fees.  With no Bikereg.com fees on top of your race fee, what you see is what you pay.

  • It saves you time
We will have extra volunteers staffing the pre-registration entries, so it will also save you time on race day, giving you plenty of time to warm up, be indecisive about last minute adjustments to you bike, and to get to the bathroom before there is a line.

  • It ensures more accurate results and saves volunteer time
All of the day-of-registrations have to be fat-fingered into the time keeping system.  It’s the single biggest headache for our volunteers as they tediously type in all of your hand written information.  Last year at least 90% of the timing errors were because people didn’t pre-register.

Pre-register today!

Note: A USA cycling license is required to race.  One day memberships for Cat 3 and Cat 2 racers may be purchased for an additional $10.  ALL Cat 1/Pro racers MUST have an annual USA Cycling license. Want a year-long license? Visit USA Cycling at http://www.usacycling.org/.

Directions

Wompatuck State Park is located on Boston's South Shore. The race starts from South Field, which is about a 10 minute drive from the park entrance. It will seem like forever, but just follow the signs!

Navigating via GPS?  Type 188 Union Street, Hingham, MA into your GPS and it will get you into the park.  Then follow the signs to the start of the race.  Do not just search for Wompatuck State Park – many GPS’s still send you to a wrong entrance.

From all directions: Rte 3 to Exit 14 (Rt. 228). Follow Rt. 228 North approximately 5 miles to Free Street on the right. Turn right onto Free Street one mile to the park entrance on the right (Union St.).  Follow the signs to the race course.
