Paul Peaslee Memorial Scholarship

In 2020, the Friends of Wompatuck established a scholarship in memory of Paul Peaslee. Paul was an avid mountain biker in Wompatuck and a trail steward. Paul helped to spearhead a lot of the early trail network bridges and was part of a Trails Advisory Board established in the 90s that worked with DCR to improve Wompatuck. Paul was also the founder and early race director of the Landmine Classic Mountain Bike Race and the Friends of Wompatuck was founded in 2006 to formalize the work already being done.

This $1,000 scholarship (at least two awarded annually) is meant to celebrate Paul’s passion for the recreational use of Wompatuck and honor his commitment to mentoring others in trail stewardship techniques to maintain and improve the park.

Eligibility: A graduating high school senior who has demonstrated a commitment to outdoor recreation and trail stewardship at Wompatuck State Park.
